Playlist: „Miss You“ by Carla Bruni
It’s often said that fashion models don’t do much more than walking the catwalk.
France’s former First Lady and model has been proving the opposite for more than 17 years now, with her music surprising and winning over even the toughest critics. Her newest album “French Touch”, which was released on October 6, is no exception.
While Carla Bruni’s previous album, “Little French Songs”, was still très français, the songs on “French Touch” are exclusively sung in English by the 49-year-old. The album was produced by 16-time Grammy award winner David Foster, who has worked with artists like Céline Dion.
Bruni did not commit herself to a particular genre in her work, though. Rather, she reinterpreted personal favourites such as “Enjoy the Silence” by the British band Depeche Mode or “Moon River” by Henry Mancini, evoking memories of long-gone times – seductive, smoky-voiced, but without sounding cheesy. Particularly eye-catching and worth listening to is Bruni’s cover of “Miss You” by the British rock band The Rolling Stones.
