Playlist: “Isn’t It True” by Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions
It had become quiet around the American singer-songwriter Hope Sandoval, whom we got to know and love as the voice of Mazzy Star. And who, later also together with her band The Warm Inventions, had created smooth, sophisticated Pop. She never disappeared completely from the scene, however. The last album of her new lineup was “Through the Devil Softly” in 2009, and in 2013, after a long break, she released a new album with Mazzy Star called “Seasons Of Your Day”. In addition, Hope was extremely busy with other projects, including songs with Air, The Chemical Brothers and Massive Attack. For the latter she sang the track “Paradise Circus”, among others, which some of you might know as the theme song for the British hit series “Luther”.
But now the wait is over: On April 16, coinciding with Record Store Day, which celebrates independent record stores, we received a Two-Tone single featuring the tracks “Isn’t It True” and “She’s in the Wall”, which Hope Sandoval (born in 1966) recorded together with Colm O Ciosoig. Wonderfully dreamy Dream Pop, reminiscent of a warm summer evening spent on a rooftop in Barcelona, Brooklyn or Berlin – high above the chaos of the city, the bustle and hectic of its cramped streets, and surrounded by your favourite people, a cool drink in your hand, gazing at the horizon. And in the background these soft sounds full of melancholy and hope and talent, playing in an endless loop until the city resumes its loud and busy life again the next morning – and the iPod needs recharging. Thank you, Hope!
