Love is all we need: Allude Resort 2018 at Der Berliner Mode Salon
Paper fans, short dresses and sunglasses were part of the quintessential survival kit during the Berlin fashion week in July. Even these accessories didn’t really ward off the tropical heat, though. Instead Der Berliner Mode Salon provided some much-needed refreshment, with 36 designers participating this time around.
Over ice-cold drinks and in a relaxed atmosphere, the fashion crowd could cool down to room temperature in the Kronprinzenpalais, while at the same time admiring the designs of the German fashion scene. Naturally, Andrea Karg and the Allude team took part in the event and made good use of the wonderful weather with an open-air presentation on the terrace of the Palais (see past Allude presentations here: Spring/Summer 2017, Fall/Winter 2017/2018). The staging, which had an artistic feel to it, emphasized maritime influences, such as various striped patterns as well as the colours blue and white. Highlight: a knit sweater in the colours of the US flag, on which the word “love” could be read – a word that it wouldn’t hurt to hear more often in these turbulent times.
Der Berliner Mode Salon didn’t end with the group exhibition. The spacious meadow behind the backyard provided generous sun umbrellas and seating areas, inviting guests to wind down. Fashion Week and hectic city life? Far from it!
