Andrea Karg on … her Love Affair with Cashmere
It takes tremendous courage to start a new business, but following her passion for fashion made this risky jump easier for Allude founder Andrea Karg. Here she shares how her lasting love affair with cashmere began.
“I fell in love with cashmere back in 1975, when I was a teenager. In those days a sweater made of that expensive, extremely delicate wool was much more exotic and out of reach than today. Just a handful of shops stocked cashmere pieces at all, and usually they were boring twin-sets in two shades of grey. I still clearly remember how smooth and wonderful the wool felt, and from the moment I touched it for the first time, the world of fashion would never be the same for me. My professional life took another direction at first, but the memory of that gorgeous, unbelievably soft sweater never lost its hold on me. To me cashmere is much more than just wool. It’s a concept, combining comfort, luxury, and even eroticism, all in one.”
