Andrea Karg on … Fashion Hype and Havens of Tranquillity
“For decades the fashion world has had the reputation of being a motley vanity fair where all that counts is to attract attention at all costs and to make sure not to miss any chance for one’s 15 minutes of fame. Sure, those working in fashion must attract some attention and at times even fight for it. But in my view one shouldn’t take this media machinery too seriously. Instead of surrounding myself with dazzling reality stars I much prefer to deal with creative makers and daring artists like Olafur Eliasson and Thomas Ruff.
I also like to read philosophical books. These works and thoughts give me inspiration for my own work and influence some small facet of my life. This quiet counterpoint to the undoubtedly beautiful, breathless world of fashion is extremely important to me. And I have no doubt that this conscious balance of lightness and profundity also enriches Allude’s collections.”
